EUROSTARS HOTELS PHOTOGRAPHY PRIZE. 1ST EDITION
Winners of the first edition of the Eurostars Hotels Photography Prize
The first edition of the Eurostars Hotels Photography Prize, “Your View is Personal”, received a total of 617 competing entries, by way of which over 200 Eurostars Hotels guests showed their particular vision of the cities where the chain is present.
The winning photograph is a spectacular image that recreates the beauty of the Segovian “Aqueduct”, taken by Víctor Fraile. The runner-up is a photograph called “Moored”, taken in Corunna by Luis Eugenio Ferreiro, while the third place goes to Paolo Sciacca, for the photograph “Oratio”, an original portrayal of St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
The three prize-winners will receive free accommodation in the Eurostars Hotel of their choice, as well as cameras given by the prestigious Olympus brand, amongst which the Reflex Digital E-500 is to be highlighted.
Apart from the three main prize-winners, the judges awarded special mentions to an additional 22 entries, presented by Mauro Ferri, José Ramón Bugliot, Alicia García, Esperanza Jarmillo, Julia Palomar, Peregrina Troitiño, Maria Isabel Fernández, Thanh Ha Ngo, Isabel Munuera, Luís Javier Villegas, Javier Darío Ruiz, Roberto Bracco, Marc Codolá, Miquel Codolá, Iñigo Escrivá, Roberto García, Mª José Carmona, Francesca Bertini, Jorge Andrés, Lucy Slater, Rafael Agustín Magdalena and Luís Eugenio Ferreiro, who all receive memory sticks.
The 25 selected pictures, showing images of Barcelona, Cordoba, Vienna, Oporto, Lucca, Madrid, Rome, Toledo, Seville and Palencia, will be the basis of a travelling exhibition that can be admired in all the establishments belonging to the chain during the first quarter of 2007. The sole requisite for participation in this annual competition – that will shortly announce its second edition – is to have been accommodated in any of the establishments belonging to the chain in Europe or Latin America.
The judges of this First Eurostars Hotels Photography Prize, “Your View is Personal”, presided by Marta Sanjurjo, the Hotusa representative and coordinated by Josep Rigol, Photographer and Exhibition Commissioner, were Agustí Argelich, Photographer, Director of the Filmlets Cinema Festival and Producer of Canal 3/24; Jaume Campdepadrós, Photographer and Public Relations for Global Images; Sara Fernández, member of the Marketing Department of the Olympus Consumer Division and Federica Di Matteo, Head of the Eurostars Hotels Art Department.
