Estamos a punto de dar carpetazo a 2006, el año Mozart o del 400 aniversario del nacimiento de Rembrandt. Entraremos en 2007, un año en el que, entre otras efemérides, se cumple el 800 aniversario de la redacción del Cantar del Mío Cid.
Ésa es una evidencia institucionalizada de que la cultura tiene un protagonismo constante en nuestras vidas incluso en aspectos que aparentemente son "aculturales". Como destaca el arquitecto Jacobo García Germán, los edificios en los que vivimos, trabajamos e incluso en aquellos en los que nos hospedamos ocasionalmente forman parte de nuestra cultura. Las fotografías de García-Álix nos ayudan a entender un punto de vista que define un colectivo. Del mismo modo que las historias que, a través, de una cámara, nos cuentan Santiago Amodeo o Jorge Sánchez-Cabezudo nos sirven para conocer, respectivamente, la realidad de los jóvenes y de la España rural del siglo XXI. O los recuerdos de Antonio Muñoz Molina en su nueva novela, El viento de la luna, nos explican los porqués y los cómos de este país cuatro décadas atrás. El autor jienense nos cuenta la cultura de entonces a la vez que enriquece la de nuestros días.
Esta segunda edición de ESTAR es pues un paseo - y sólo uno entre los muchos que, afortunadamente, podríamos haber recorrido - por esa cultura omnipresente y se completa con un recorrido por la Bruselas del Art Noveau o con un extracto de Crónicas de ida y vuelta, la obra ganadora del II Premio Eurostars Hotels de Narrativa de Viajes, que pronto podrán disfrutar todos nuestros clientes.

we are on the verge of closing the doors on 2006, the Mozart year or the 400th anniversary of the birth of Rembrandt. We shall soon be entering 2007, the year in which, amongst other commemorations, it will be the 800th anniversary of the epic poem Cantar del Mío Cid (Song of El Cid).
This is the institutionalised evidence that culture has constant prominence in our lives, even in aspects that are seemingly "anticultural". As the architect, Jacobo García-Germán points out, the buildings in which we live, work and even those in which we stay from time to time, from part of our culture. The photography by García-Álix helps us to understand a viewpoint that defines a group of people. In the same way that stories that are told to us, through the eyes of a camera, by Santiago Amodeo or Jorge Sánchez-Cabezudo help us to understand, each in his own way, the reality lived by young people in the rural Spain of the 21st century. Or the recollections of Antonio Muñoz Molina in his new novel, El Viento de la Luna (Moon Wind). This novel explains the "whys and wherefores" of this country four decades ago. The author from Jaén describes the culture of that era while, at the same time, enriching our present times.
This second edition of ESTAR is therefore a stroll - and only one of the many that, fortunately, we could have taken - through that ever-present culture, which is completed with a journey through the Brussels Art Nouveau or with an excerpt from Crónicas de ida y vuelta (Chronicles of return journeys), the II Eurostars Hotels Travel Narrative Award-winner, that soon be enjoyed by all our hotel visitors.
