The urban etchings by Antonio Marras take the leading role in an exhibition at the Eurostars Gaudí****.

The Eurostars Gaudí**** (Barcelona) presents, from 19 September to 10 November, an exhibition showing work by Fabio Antonio Marras (Milan, 1960). This Barcelona establishment will display a series of etchings that the artist himself defines as “markedly expressionist”.
Works by Fabio Antonio Marras find their main sources of inspiration in urban landscapes. Indeed, in the etchings on show at the Eurostars Gaudí****, architectural and decorative elements prevail over the human figure, totally merged into the landscape. Pictures carried out with firm, forceful strokes, in which buildings and furniture appear to have a life of their own. With regard to the use of light and colour, the works demonstrate another source of artistic inspiration for Marras, that of illustration. “In my work, fiction also has great importance”, assures the artist, stressing that “the work I do has more relationship with novels or comics than with classical etching”.
Fabio Antonio Marras obtained his degree in 1984, from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera (Italy). Shortly afterwards, he began to work as an illustrator with major Italian publishers, such as Arnolodo Mondadori or Rcs Grupo Rizzoli, and in newspapers like “Il Sole 24 Ore” and “La Gaceta Dello Sport”. Following a short spell working in a studio as an engraver, he took part in his first exhibitions in Milan, Barcelona and Sao Paulo (Brazil). In recent times, his creations have been on show in collective exhibitions, “Obra Gràfica 2ona Part”, held in the Barceloneta Civic Centre (Barcelona, 2007) and in “Inshu Washi”, shown in the Museu Molí Paperer in Capellades (Barcelona). Regarding individual shows, Marras has taken part in “I Luoghi la Musica il Noir” (Spazio Cinema Anteno, Milan, 2003) and in “Viaggi” (Galería Zen, Milan, 2003).
