The jury of the seventh edition of the ‘Grand Marina Photography Award’ announces the winners of the competition.
30/11/07 The seventh edition of the Grand Marina Photography Award, devoted to the theme “Barcelona, City Lights”, has been awarded to the series of three photographs by Tim Langlotz, in which the author delights us with an original and amusing play of light and dark. The second and third prizes were awarded, respectively, to the series “Luce la Noche, Luce Barcelona” (Night Shines, Barcelona Shines) by Mitos Colom and the triptych “La Noche se Mueve” (Night Moves) by Luis Valiño.
The winning piece of work will be awarded a cash prize of 3,000 euros, the runner-up, 2,000 euros and the third placement, 1,500 euros. Together with these three winning series, consolation prizes have been awarded to seven additional competitors, namely: Alberto Sánchez-Villalva, Agustín Góngora, Maria Carme Aracil, Cristóbal García López, Antonio Jesús Pérez, Carlos Araguz and Héctor Morris, all of whom will receive a cash prize of 500 euros each. In addition to the monetary award, one of the great attractions of this original photography competition organized by the Grupo Hotusa, is the fact that the winning pictures will be incorporated into the décor of the 275 guestrooms at the Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel*****GL.
The panel of judges for this edition was headed by JosepJuanpere, Architect and Director of the studio GCA Arquitectes, the firm responsible for the hotel project and interior design of the establishment. It included amongst its membersSilvia Doménech, Director of the Historical Photographic Archives of the City of Barcelona, Jaume Campdepadrós, Photographer and Public Relations Manager from the studio Global Image, Joan García, Journalist and Assistant Manager of the radio programme “Els Matins de Catalunya Radio”,Carlos Pérez de Rozas, Journalistfrom “La Vanguardia” and Professor of Journalism at the Pompeu Fabra University, Marta Sanjurjo representing the Hotusa Group and the Photographer, Josep Rigol, coordinator of the event.
On Thursday, 13 December, the prize-giving ceremony will be held and the exhibition displaying the ten prize-winning series will be opened.
