The Eurostars Mediterránea Plaza**** (Alicante) presents, from 20 July to 20 September, an exhibition with works by Conxi Puig (Cornellà de Terri, Girona, 1959). This artist, whose creations have been hung in several exhibitions and events at national and international level, presents a selection of paintings in which the colour strikes the viewer for its intensity and the asymmetry of the mountings.

Following a first stage characterized by figurative drawing and portrait painting, Conxi Puig’s painting has evolved to become a network of diverse materials and elements where the colour and asymmetry of the mountings are very striking. This Girona born artist has painted since she was very young, allowing her to enrol at the Fine Arts School of Girona in 1981. Since 1984, numerous individual and collective exhibitions endorse her artistic career. She started to give drawing and painting lessons in the nineties and in 1997 she opened her own studio.

This Catalonian artist defines her work as “abstract matter”. She also asserts that she is happy working with paintbrushes, mixing colours and dirtying canvases. The fact is, Puig declares, “I enjoy creating and it doesn’t matter whether it is a mural or a simple greetings card”. For this painter, “inspiration should catch you working because hands are imagination’s tools”.

Apart from the Eurostars Mediterránea Plaza****, Conxi Puig’s work has played leading roles in other exhibitions. Amongst others, the artist has displayed her work in the Palace of Pedralbes (Barcelona), the Casa Lila Palace (Oviedo), the Catarsis Gallery (Madrid), the Casa Batlló (Barcelona), the Agaete Showroom (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), The Red House (Yokohama, Japan), or the Cabral Palace (Lisbon). Paintings by Conxi Puig have also travelled to other countries, such as Morocco, France and Denmark, in addition to the WifredoLamArtGallery in Havana, Cuba.
