The Eurostars Las Adelfas**** (Cordova) presents, from 17 August to 30 September, some twenty pieces of work by Jorge Rafael Marruecos (Guadix, Granada, 1962). Work characterized by the use of computer design in its development that the artist himself defines as “digital, present-day art, eminently functional and exclusive, developed in latest generation, high quality techniques and materials”. The official opening of the exhibition will take place next 5 September at 9 p.m., in the Cordova hotel.
Jorge Rafael Marruecos is a versatile artist who has found in digital technology the means to “simply obtain a representation of the real world”. The Granada artist, nevertheless, points out that this recreation of everyday reality is reinvented by him”to endow human environments with aesthetic emotions”. Marruecos asserts that the works exhibited in the Eurostars Las Adelfas**** (Cordova) have a “pleasing” appearance in which the lighting is very important. This characteristic is very patent in pictures such as Ice mirror, Evening star, African Dunes, Cordova, an evocation of the Mezquita, or Continual Rose, Eternal Rose.
Regarding the use of computer programmes in his work, Marruecos defends the use of the new technologies for artistic ends. “It is only ignorance or wrong information that originates prejudice”, he specifies. The artist adds that “everybody understands that one is not able to produce a work of art by the simple application of a computer programme”. And he ends in defence of his medium: “digital painting, at this moment of development, is now unavoidable”, thanks to the ease with which the general public can access these creations.
