The Eurostars Das Artes**** shows light-filled etchings by Manoel Bonabal.

The Eurostars Das Artes**** (Oporto) presents an exhibition, from 5 September to 20 October, with works by Manoel Bonabal (Santiago de Compostela, 1961).
Manoel Bonabal has spent over fifteen years dedicated to the world of painting and etching. A large part of this artist’s production of has been developed in the field of Mail Art. In fact, Bonabal, last June, gave a workshop on the theme of Mail Art, organized by the Granell Foundation in Corunna.
Manoel Bonabal’s career started over fifteen years ago, when the painter began studies at the School of Arts and Crafts Maestro Mateo, in Santiago de Compostela. His academic training was taken care of by his father, the sculptor, Manuel Barreiro Moratalla. Throughout his career, Bonabal has completed his knowledge by attending courses, such as calcographic etching, taught at the International Centre of Contemporary Print (CEIC) in Betanzos. All these influences are reflected in the personal etchings by Manoel Bonabal. His creations show the enormous importance of the human figure and of light. This latter element is highlighted by the skilled used that Bonabal makes of bright colours and soft outlines.
Manoel Bonabal has exhibited his work in a varied selection of scenarios. In his native Galicia, he has held multiple exhibitions, for example, “Pingas”, organized by the J. Lorenso Gallery in Santiago de Compostela (2006), or “En firme” held in Monforte de Lemos (May 2007). With regard to mail art, his speciality, Bonabal has collaborated in the international show, “Postal Art Day” that took place in the Cultural Centre Recoleta-Vórtice in Argentina (2006), “My Worl-Mail Art”, at the Dirham Gilesgate Sports College, Gt. Britain (2006) and in “Il Martirio”, organized by the Comune de Montalbano Jonico, Italy (2007).
