Guillermo Pedrosa y Pere Martir
The Eurostars Auriense presents a joint exhibition by Guillermo Pedrosa and Pere-Mártir Brasó.

27/07/07

The Eurostars Auriense Hotel **** (Ourense)presents, from 27 July to 26 September a joint exhibition by Guillermo Pedrosa (Vilagarcía de Arousa, Pontevedra, 1958)and Pere-Màrtir Brasó (Vilassar de Mar, Barcelona, 1952). Entitled “Elements/Habitat”, this exhibition shows a selection of the most outstanding works by both artists.

The abstract work by Guillermo Pedrosa forms a contrast with critical and socially-conscious paintings by Pere-Màrtir Brasó.  The Catalonian painter describes his work as “a rapid and gestureful execution, normally figurative and outlined”. With obvious influences from the comic, an art form he has always defended, he has passed through different artistic periods during which he never abandoned his particular figurative art.  On the other hand, Guillermo Pedrosa commenced initially with figurative paintings, representing the damp walls of the houses in wintertime Galicia. With the excuse of the stains that appear on those walls, he worked and developed a chromatic investigation that was to lead him to the abstract, his current line of work.

Both painters showed their talent for painting from an early age. Guillermo Pedrosa began to paint at the age of 14 and at 17 held his first individual exhibition. His work can be found in Galicia-based museums and foundations, as well as in other parts of Spain. Pere-Màrtir Brasó,who studied commercial art, began to work in the eighties with the painter Pere Montserrat. It was some years later that he began to exhibit and, since then has displayed his paintings in different art shows in Vilassar de Mar, Tordera, Mataró and Vigo. Brasó acknowledges that most of his work is in the form of oils on canvas, although he is interested in painting and drawing on paper. His main source of inspiration is the political and social reality of daily life, in addition to travel, the cinema and literature.
