The Eurostars Anglí presents open to 'dialogue' creations by José Moreno.
24/01/08 The Eurostars Anglí****(Barcelona) presents, until 28 February, an exhibition by José Moreno (Orce, Granada, 1961). The Barcelona hotel will be showing a series of creations which, Moreno assures, maintain a dialogue with concepts as abstract as space, place, form and limits. And, all this – according to the artist – starting out from observation of the reality that surrounds him.
Moreno asserts that, in his creations, “observation and synthesis are the starting point and arrival point that run through my work”. This artist from Granada defines himself as multidisciplinary. “Generally, I do not think ahead of how I am going to create. My work process develops through a problem that is rather conceptual than formal”, he explains, to later add that, “one same problem will end up finding solutions in the sphere of painting or sculpture, indistinctly”. Taking this premise as a starting point, the artist looks for elements in everyday life as inspiration for his work. “I don’t always go to the same drinking fountain, I need to move around and drink from many”, he states.
José Moreno began his apprenticeship at the Barcelona painting school, La Llotja, while his knowledge of sculpture was acquired at the BarcelonaUniversity’s Department of Fine Arts. His artistic career has led him to be the leading figure in several individual exhibitions held at galleries such as the Traç d’Art (Sabadell, Barcelona, 2000), the José Saramago Centre (Orce, Granada, 2004) or the Trèbol BCN Art Gallery (Barcelona, 2007). Likewise, the Granada artist has left a legacy of creations in various private collections, for example, the SabadellArt Museum, the Caja Rural Foundation in Granada or the Barcelona University Art Collection.
