Ramon Marti
The Buddhist spirit of Ramón Martí fills the Eurostars Anglí**** with art.

12/09/07

The Eurostars Anglí****(Barcelona) presents, from 12 to 28 September, the exhibition entitled “Adellà” (on the other side), displaying twenty-five works by Ramón Martí. The Barcelona establishment houses a series of paintings modified by digital techniques in which the artist asserts that his intention is “for the representation of reality to be seen again and re-interpreted”.

The works exhibited by Ramón Martí in the Eurostars Anglí**** are strongly inspired by the Buddhist conception of reality, “according to which” – the artist points out – “no thing, no body exists separately”. Martí’s intention, with the twenty-five pictures that comprise “Adellà” is to achieve making spectators rapidly identify the daily reality that envelopes them. “As though it was a recollection or a dream re-lived”, explains the artist, “but from an angle that permits a re-identification of this.” Martí adds that “I have intentionally used digital printing techniques, with added chromatic codes that lead one to a new perception”. Martí who, in addition to being a painter, defines himself as a fashion designer, theatrical designer, illustrator, video producer, assures that the works comprising “Adellà” are strongly inspired by Buddhism. “I have also been influenced by the propositions made by Duchamp and Pop Art by Hamilton and Andy Warhol”, he adds.

In the exhibition held by the Eurostars Anglí****, some of the works that can be contemplated are Mamífer, Pont del Diable, Eldorado or Santarem. Ramón Martí has been awarded various prizes and acknowledgements, such as the European Design Prize at St. Gallen (Switzerland) or the Spanish Fashion Award for new designers. Additionally, during his professional career he has created various costumes and stage sets for theatrical productions such as Tirant lo Blanc, Lucrecia Borja, Edip Rei or Tot Esperant Godot. With regard to pictorial exhibitions, Martí presented his show, “Impermanencia”, in 2006, at the Galería Libre/Completo in Barcelona.
