Hotusa continues its expansion with the purchase of Claridge Hotel
28/09/2006 The Hotusa Group continues its expansion programme in South America with the purchase of the Claridge Hote 5*, the emblematic and historical choice establishment situated in the heart of Buenos Aires (Argentina). The five-star hotel will join the Eurostars Hotels chain, but will keep its name in order to conserve the family spirit that has made it famous throughout its 60 years of history.
The Claridge Hotel 5* was built at the end of the Second World War, during one of the most prosperous epoques enjoyed by the Argentinean capital, by the Rosarios brothers, Felipe and Ottocar. The objective was to endow the city with a great hotel impeccably sited (in former times it stood opposite the Buenos Aires Jockey Club) and in the style most like that of the grand European establishments.
The design by the prestigious local architect, Arturo Dubourg and its select service made the Claridge become a landmark amongst Buenos Aires hotels since its opening date, 2 August 1946. The hotel has maintained this status up to the present day, due to continued adaptation of its facilities and services to the highest standards of quality, in order to satisfy the exacting demands of the many celebrities and business men and women that visit the hotel year after year.
The hotel has 157 English style rooms, completely renovated and equipped with the high-tech comfort the business client expects. Amongst them, the 70 square-metre Windsor Suite, is worthy of praise.
In April 2001, the renovation work carried out in the Lobby, Bar, as well as the elegant “Claridge’s Restaurant”, a revered gastronomic sanctuary for the quality of its cuisine. There, Argentinean specialities and exquisite dishes can be sampled, such as the Claridge filet mignon, the magret de canard or the turkey with sweet-and-sour sauce.
In addition, a complete Health Club has been included, with an acclimatized open-air swimming pool, the latest in gym equipment, sauna and an inviting Salad Bar. The hotel offer is rounded up with the “Claridge’s Bar”, a modern Business Centre and a wide option of reception rooms for the organization of work meetings, as well as banquets and other social events to cater for up to 450 persons.
