Information about Munich
Munich is the Bavaria’s capital; it’s the city with many faces, conservative and austere, modern and cosmopolitan. It’s known as "Weltstadt mit Herz" metropolis with hearth. The city is an important tourism and business center, on one hand it offers prestigious museums and art galleries, and on the other hand it’s a prosperous economical district. However Munich has also a party side, that for the Oktoberfest fills up the city with more or less 6 million people.
The two twin towers of the Our Blessed Lady Cathedral are the city symbol. This building in gothic style, dates back to the XV century. Near the Cathedral, in the Marienplatz square, the melodies of the famous “carillon” can be heard, and just round the corner there’s the most famous beer hall in the world, the Hofbräuhaus. It’s also to keep in mind that in Munich can be found the Deutsches Museum, the biggest science museum in the world, and the Kunstareal, the Munich art district that, among the other galleries, include the Pinakothek der Moderne, which host the most representative modern and contemporary art collection in Germany.
